My Maltese dog is not eating. What can I do to encourage him to eat? If your puppy is not eating First try giving them Nutri-cal because this helps to stimulate there appetite. You can also substitute Nutri-cal with Corn Syrup. Let them lick it off of your finger. Offer Chicken Broth with low sodium. A sick puppy will almost always take that. Make sure they are drinking plenty of water. By Adding chicken broth to there food you will help stimulate there appetite. Boiled chicken with no bones and rice seems to help as well. Do NOT add butter,salt or seasonings! Keep it plain & simple. If your dog does not take the food then I suggest taking them to the vet to get checked out. Not eating regular meals could cause them to become hypoglycemic would could be deadly if not treated Quickly. |
